    لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

    Transliteration

    La ilaha illallahul-'Azimul-Halim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbul-'arshil-'azim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbus-samawati wa Rabbul-ardi wa Rabbul-'arshil-karim.

    Meaning

    There is no god but Allah, the Almighty, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the Noble Throne.

    Virtue: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say this in times of distress.

    لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

    Transliteration

    La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.

    Meaning

    There is no god but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.

    Virtue: The dua of Dhun-Nun (Yunus) when he called upon Allah in the belly of the whale. No Muslim calls upon Allah with it for anything except that Allah answers him.

    اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

    Transliteration

    Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan, wal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-bukhli wal-jubn, wa dala'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.

    Meaning

    O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men.

    اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَىٰ نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

    Transliteration

    Allahumma rahmataka arju fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn, wa aslih li sha'ni kullah, la ilaha illa ant.

    Meaning

    O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye. Set right all my affairs. There is no god but You.

    حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ

    Transliteration

    Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal-wakil.

    Meaning

    Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

    Virtue: Ibrahim said it when he was thrown into the fire, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) said it when he was told that the people had gathered against them.

    يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَىٰ دِينِكَ

    Transliteration

    Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik.

    Meaning

    O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.

    Virtue: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say this dua very often.
